Back in November, Harlow Garland was approached by Bride and Groom Magazine's Art Director to style one of their upcoming shoots. We were so overjoyed to be involved and to be able to work with photographer, Kate Little again so we immediately jumped at the chance.
With the same venue and the same photographer as we'd just used for our most recent styled shoot, we were tasked with creating something completely different to go with the theme parameters set by the magazine. We were also asked to have our specialist florals department, HGBlooms create a gorgeous bridal bouquet, boutonniere and swag to feature in the shoot.
Rather than go for the everyday boutonniere, we created a small wreath of dried lavender to be worn on the groom's pocket, opting for something entirely different to what we generally see.
For the bouquet, we chose a selection of peonies, king protea, pink protea and sea holly, wrapping the stems in black leather with a ribbon flowing from the grip.
For the swag, we opted for a simple evergreen arrangement with the addition of the vibrant purple alliums to offset the greenery.
When we were given the task of styling the venue with the idea of creating something 'romantic', we thought immediately of the latte chiffon draping we'd seen at La Lumiere. We wanted something with multiple layers and dimensions and from our scribble diagram, La Lumiere were able to emulate exactly what we'd imagined with very little refinement - exactly what you want from a wedding vendor!
We knew that the venue's industrial style exposed ceilings would counter the look we'd created and so we chose a variety of ruffled parasols in complementary tones from The Pretty Prop Shop to hang upside down at varying heights, hiding the ceiling and adding to the 'hug' of the ceremony backdrop.
We loved this shoot and the opportunity to collaborate with Bride and Groom magazine and our favourite vendors and we've been rewarded with an twelve page spread in the latest issue!
Head out and buy your copy now, we hope you love it as much as we do!
